Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Job Specialty: Radiology Interventional Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 0700-1930 Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: 3-5 years in interventional radiology License: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) registration with advanced registry in Cardiac, Vascular, or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography Certifications: Healthcare Provider certification (BLS) Must-Have: Stroke/neuro interventional experience preferred Job Description: - Specializes in performing invasive procedures under the direction of a Radiologist to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities. - Explains examination procedures to patients, prepares them for examinations, and obtains additional medical history as necessary. - Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for patient administration. - Reviews clinical data on requisitions, analyzes patient anatomy, sets up equipment, and assists Radiologists with complex diagnostic invasive procedures. - Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, including physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment. - Ensures adequate supplies such as needles and catheters are on hand and properly stored, replenishing as needed. - Actively assesses patient conditions before, during, and after procedures. - Manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information for the body area being studied. - May assist with training new personnel and/or students assigned to the division. - Performs all imaging procedures while demonstrating principles of radiation protection and using ALARA techniques. - Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, along with indexing studies in the Radiology Information System. - Demonstrates consistent Team Member Standards of Excellence, including open communication, timely response, and respecting diversity. - Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate. - Completes all documentation in the medical record and the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions. - Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
