About the RoleChildren's Hospital of Michigan, a leading pediatric and adolescent medicine institution, is seeking a skilled Pediatric Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a full-time employee, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment.Key Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and review medical records to ensure exam appropriateness.
• Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors.
• Explain procedures to patients, including side effects, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up instructions.
• Set up equipment and acquire images as per script.
• Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols, and communicate data to radiologists.
• Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as needed.
• Provide post-care instructions to patients and participate in process improvement activities within the radiology practice.
• Able to take call/standby as required by the department.Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training required.
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills necessary to determine the most age-appropriate method of providing radiographs specific to patients' physical abilities and limitations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively instruct patients who may be under physical/emotional stress.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse atmosphere with various hospital personnel and patients.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to operate equipment, including specialized equipment and computers.
